Open Source in Asia

Posted on Feb 17, 2008

I'd like to introduce a presentation about open source in Asia.

The speaker is Gen Kanai, who works for the Mozilla Corporation. He talked about the Mozilla community and open source activities in Asia, such as:

  • The situation of the Mozilla community in Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan
  • Three barriers to participating in open source projects: culture, language, and education
  • Examples of open source projects in Asia (Ruby, Red Flag Linux, and Dzongkha Debian Linux)

Channy Yun, the leader of the Korea Mozilla Community, commented on the situation of open source activities in Korea.

You can learn about the state of open source in Korea from this article.

Thanks.
